Introduction
National Biodigester Programme (NBP) is a joint programme between the Cambodia Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV). This pilot phase runs from 2005 till December 2009 and the programme is extending till 2012 and upscaled to 12 provinces. MAFF has nominated the Department of Animal Health and Production (DAHP) as the advisory and coordinating agency for the programme, the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) provides technical assistance to the programme while the Directorate General International Cooperation (DGIS) of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides financial assistance in the framework of the Asia Biogas Programme. The overall objective of the first phase of the National Biodigester Programme is the dissemination of domestic biodigesters as an indigenous, sustainable energy source through the development of a commercial, market oriented, biodigester sector in selected provinces of Cambodia. The specific objectives, contributing to the overall goal of the programme, are as follows:
Technical and promotional capacity development for further wide scale deployment of biodigester technology in Cambodia;
